Ondansetron is an antiemetic medication. It works by blocking the action of a
chemical messenger (serotonin) in the brain that may cause nausea and vomiting
during anti-cancer treatment (chemotherapy) or after surgery.

Ondansetron is used to prevent nausea and vomiting that is caused by cancer
medicines (chemotherapy) or radiation therapy. It is also used to prevent nausea
and vomiting that may occur after surgery. Ondansetron works in the stomach to
block the signals to the brain that cause nausea and vomiting.

 Confusion
 dizziness
 fast heartbeat
 fever
 headache
 shortness of breath
 weakness
 Decrease in the frequency and volume of urination
 chest pain or discomfort
 chest tightness or heaviness
 convulsions

 Hypersentivity
 Avoid if the patient has a known allergy to Ondansetron.
 Liver disease
 Avoid using if the patient is having any liver disease as there are reports of
Ondansetron increasing patient's liver enzymes.
 Paediatics
 Avoid using in children who are younger than 4 years.
