Clonidine lowers blood pressure by decreasing the levels of certain chemicals in
your blood. This allows your blood vessels to relax and your heart to beat more
slowly and easily.

Clonidine is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
Clonidine is used in the treatment of Hypertension (high blood pressure). It can also
be used to prevent migraine attacks and hot flushes that may occur in women
during the menopause.

 Mental depression
 Swelling of feet and lower legs
 Anxiety and confusion
 Dry mouth
 Shortness of breath
 Constipation
 Darkening of skin
 Decreased sexual ability
 Loss of appetite
 Nausea or Vomiting
 Nose bleed
 A very slow heart rate

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with this medicine
due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects such as a very low blood
pressure, fainting, dizziness, drowsiness, etc.
Abrupt discontinuation of this medicine may cause rebound hypertension and side
effects such as nervousness, agitation, headache, etc.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of
cerebrovascular disorders, chronic renal failure and depression due to the increased
risk of worsening of the patient's condition.
This medicine may cause a sudden drop in the blood pressure. This risk is especially
higher in patients with a history of cardiovascular disorders or electrolyte
disturbances. 
This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, sedation, etc. in some patients.
