Anemia is known as the silent killer among Indian women. It is a condition that occurs when the normal hemoglobin level dips 120 to 130g/L. It is one of the leading causes of death among pregnant women, non-pregnant women who have attained puberty and young children.
What are the causes of Anemia in India?
The main cause if anemia is deficiency of one or more nutrients including folic acid, vitamin b-12, protein, amino acids, vitamin B, A or C. Other factors of Anemia include:
1. Warm infestation
2. Infection such as malaria
3. Excessive bleeding in pregnant women
4. Blood cell disorder
Another cause of Anemia in women can be excess bleeding during menses or any uterus related disease leading to excessive blood loss.
How can you treat Anemia?
Anemia can prove fatal and serious steps should be taken to treat it. Its treatment include:
1. Consume well balanced diet
2. Taking regular iron supplement
3. Consuming high protein diet
4. Taking injectable iron
5. Getting a blood transfusion done
