Researchers say that some nutrients like folate, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and chromium combat depression and pep up our mood. ALA also decreases levels of the brain chemicals dopamine, which is responsible for feelings of joy and serotonin, the happiness hormone.

Chocolates: This is no news that chocolate makes you feel better, but it is good to know that there’s some science behind our common indulgence in rich dark chocolates. Chocolate contains mood-boosting chemicals such as theobromine and phenylethyamine. It also reduces stress hormone levels like cortisol in people with anxiety.
